Speaker's Bureau

Outreach and communication are crucial to the success of non-profit organizations.  The Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Los Angeles County Affiliate proudly offers a volunteer speaker’s bureau committed to educate, inspire, and increase breast health awareness for small to large groups, public events, community programs, and corporations.  As an organization actively involved in the fight to eradicate breast cancer through research, education, screening and treatment, we believe our speaker’s bureau is crucial to the support of our mission and raising over $1 million each year in the Los Angeles County region.

From breast health care to early detection recommendations to compelling inspirational survivor stories – our speaker’s bureau platform illuminates the realities of breast cancer, treatment options, tireless efforts of fundraising million dollar campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and solution based outreach programs.

Our bureau consists of highly compassionate women from the shores of Long Beach’s south bay area to the rolling hills of Camarillo in Ventura county region. We are women who were affected on some level by breast cancer either personally or through friends and family. Our desire to support the efforts of the Los Angeles County affiliate goes well beyond our own needs where community service is a priority in our lives.

The big questions are still without answers: what causes the disease and how can it be prevented? One in eight American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Without a cure in the next 25 years, an estimated 25 million women globally will be diagnosed with breast cancer and an estimated 10 million will die from the disease. It is obvious that breast cancer is not yet under control. This is why outreach programs such as speaking bureaus are vital to the success of our efforts.
