| The Los Angeles County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® was founded in 1996. Since that time, the Los Angeles County Affiliate has raised over $7.5 million to support local breast health programs throughout community grants program. In the grant years of 2008 and 2009, the Affiliate invested over $1 million in the form of community grants. In addition to the grants program, the Affiliate offers education and information about breast health, screening, early detection, and breast cancer. The Affiliate provides health programs and participates in community, corporate, and faith based education events and programs targeting specific at-risk populations. Furthermore, the Affiliate strongly believes in pursuing a systemic change to improve the lives of people with breast cancer through public policy efforts.
The Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate has five full time employees, one part time employee, and one part time consultant. The Affiliate has a thirteen member Board of Directors and over 400 registered volunteers.
