Antelope Valley Community Clinic – Lancaster
Provide breast diagnostic services for 150-200 uninsured, low income, symptomatic women less than 40 years of age and men ineligible or pubic funding.
Antelope Valley Community Clinic – Lancaster
One-on-one and tailored group presentations to underinsured, uninsured, low income African American, Asian and Hispanic women over 40 years of age will be done through community outreach workers or promotoras.
Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, Inc. – Los Angeles
Bilingual Cambodian outreach workers will conduct face to face in reach to women 40 years of age or over to encourage breast health screening and a minimum of 150 Cambodian women will receive outreach breast health information and assistance with referrals at local ethnic businesses and community activities.
Black Women for Wellness – Los Angeles
Promote screening among African American women by training four (4) peer educators to conduct small group trainings, large group presentations and a presence at community events; develop appropriate health education materials to improve access to breast health screenings.
Boarding for Breast Cancer – Los Angeles
Provide high school and college breast health outreach through a student ambassador program.
Catholic Healthcare West DBA-California Hospital Medical Center – Los Angeles
Increase access to diagnostic mammography, ultra-sound and breast biopsy for up to 125 uninsured women under the age 40 who do not qualify for public funding.
Community Health Alliance of Pasadena – Pasadena
Two bilingual Spanish outreach workers or promotoras will promote screening and breast health assurance to 200 low income Hispanic and African American women age 40 and over through workshops and community events.
Disability Rights Legal Center – Los Angeles
Cancer Rights Conference for women and their caregivers coping with breast cancer; campaign to educate LA County breast cancer community about toll free Assistance Line; professional education seminar and advocacy training for Komen LA County.
Families in Good Health/St. Mary Medical Center – Long Beach
Utilizing bilingual, biculturally skilled Community Health Advocates to provide services that include breast health education for 900 Southeast Asian women and access to breast health screenings for 50 women.
Glendale Memorial Hospital Marcia Ray Breast Center – Glendale
Diagnostic testing program for 120 uninsured women under the age of 40 who have been identified with a breast mass or breast problem.
Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center – Glendale
Provide bandages, dressings and at least 200 lymphedema treatments of manual lymph drainage not covered by Medi-Cal; coordinate semi-annual community education programs for lymphedema patients.
Guam Communications Network – Long Beach
Pairing of young adults and experienced Patient Navigators to provide culturally tailored education on breast health screening to 400 Pacific Islanders (Chamorrows, Samoans); navigate 60 breast cancer survivors with interpretation, transportation, referral services, and support groups.
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital/Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center – Valencia
Provide more than 250 diagnostic procedures for uninsured, low income women and men symptomatic with breast disease who are ineligible for public funding.
Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance – Woodland Hills
Designed to provide non-clinical services and assistance to low income, uninsured/underinsured breast cancer patients.
Northeast Valley Health Corporation – San Fernando
Provide breast health education and promote healthy lifestyles to 300 low income, uninsured or underinsured Latinas.
Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance – Hollywood
Culturally and linguistically triage 55 non-English speaking Thai women by coordinating referrals, setting up appointments and providing interpretation, as well as, in-depth navigation for 40 non-English speaking Thai women receiving breast cancer diagnostics and/or treatment.

Samoan National Nurses Association – Carson
Promote the following culturally and linguistically sensitive programs among the Samoan and Tongan communities: breast health education, support services for navigation, referral services, general relief and emotional support after diagnosis and treatment.
Sisters Breast Cancer Survivors Network – Los Angeles
Outreach to educate Afro-American women in breast health care and provide resources and referrals to breast cancer survivors during and after treatment through the “buddy system.”
South Asian Network – Artesia
1000 South Asian (origins in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives) women age 30 and over will receive culturally and linguistically appropriate breast health information by Trained Community Health Advocates; 30-50 South Asian women will be referred to breast cancer screening.
Special Services for Groups/Saath – Los Angeles
300 South Asian uninsured women living in LA City, age 40 and over, will receive culturally and linguistically appropriate educational materials and access to care information through one-on-one sessions with multilingual outreach personnel; recall testing will be done with 50 women navigated to screening.
Sr. Mary Sabina Sullivan Women’s Health Center/St. Mary Medical Center – Long Beach
Provide breast diagnostic procedures for 200 uninsured, low income and symptomatic women less than 40 years of age.
St. Vincent Medical Center – Los Angeles
Promotes breast health education and screening for low income, poverty level, uninsured Korean, Filipino and Latino women over 40, through culturally and language specific interventions.
Team Survivor California – Santa Monica
Bilingual Spanish/English language, gentle chair based yoga program at LAC/USC County Hospital for low income, underserved breast cancer survivors waiting for treatment.
The Saban Free Clinic – Los Angeles
Underwrite 270 medical examinations and breast diagnostic procedures for at risk, symptomatic, uninsured women and men ineligible for public funding.
The Wellness Community-Valley/Ventura – Winnetka
Enhance the health and well being of 150 underserved Latinas with breast cancer and their families with culturally and linguistically competent education and emotional support through the use of trained Aliados (community outreach workers).
United Cambodian Community – Long Beach
300 Cambodian women over age 30 will attend monthly breast cancer education meetings with 40% to be navigated to screenings as appropriate; interpretation services for monolingual patients will be done during screening and treatment.
Venice Family Clinic (VFC) – Venice
Funds will underwrite clinical breast examinations for 120 low income, uninsured and homeless women under 40 years of age with diagnostic services and case management for 114 women with positive screening results.
White Memorial Medical Center – Los Angeles
Provide Spanish language support groups and art and yoga support groups for underserved Latina breast cancer survivors.
Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project – Inglewood
Each One Teach One Program educates underserved African American and Hispanic women about breast health/cancer at community programs, churches, schools and work sites.
Worksite Wellness LA – Los Angeles
Utilizes culturally and linguistically appropriate methods to provide breast cancer education to immigrant Latina workers in the manufacturing and garment industries in the greater downtown LA area
YWCA of the Harbor Area & South Bay – San Pedro
Spanish speaking support groups for newly diagnosed and breast cancer survivors; bilingual Spanish/English support group for those with abnormal results.
SMALL GRANTS
Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum – Washington, DC
Funding assisted Asian Americans and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander breast cancer survivors from Los Angeles County to participate at the conference.
City of Hope, Division of Clinical Cancer Genetics – Duarte
To cover translation and transcription costs for the Spanish language conference targeted at individuals and families with increased risk for breast and/or ovarian cancer who have gone through genetic counseling.
San Diego State University Research Foundation – San Diego
Funding was used to offset facility and security costs for the “Clinical Breast Examination: Proficiency and Risk Management” course provided to clinicians participating in the Cancer Detection Program: Every Women Counts for uninsured/underserved women in Los Angeles County.
