Public Policy

Support a political issue that's equally vital to the left...and the right. Tell the candidates: I Vote for the Cure

“I Vote for the Cure.”

Cancer is a Political Issue

In order for Komen to achieve its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever, we know that scientific progress must be complemented by sound public policy.  Cancer is a political issue.

Komen Affiliates have secured major policy successes that address issues such as patient navigation, access to clinical trials, state cancer registry standards, and funding for breast cancer screening services.

Komen uses the power of activism to achieve important legislative objectives at the federal, state, and local levels.  These issues include:

  • Increased funding and support for breast cancer research
  • Translational research to ensure patients benefit from new discoveries
  • Support and funding to provide screening and treatment to underserved women
  • Access to quality breast health care
  • Reduction and elimination of ethnic and income-based disparities in breast cancer outcomes

A Day of Recognition for Komen Los Angeles County!

October 29, 2008 was a proud day for the Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate, when we were awarded a certificate of recognition presented by City Councilmembers Dennis P. Zine, Janice Hahn, and Tom LaBonge.  The certificate acknowledges Komen's "dedication and determination in the fight against breast cancer."  This day would not have been possible if it were not for YOU!
