Cancer is a Political Issue In order for Komen to achieve its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever, we know that scientific progress must be complemented by sound public policy. Cancer is a political issue. Komen Affiliates have secured major policy successes that address issues such as patient navigation, access to clinical trials, state cancer registry standards, and funding for breast cancer screening services. Komen uses the power of activism to achieve important legislative objectives at the federal, state, and local levels. These issues include:

Join over 100,000 dedicated survivors and activists around the country who care about making a difference in the lives of women and families facing this disease. October 29, 2008 was a proud day for the Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate, when we were awarded a certificate of recognition presented by City Councilmembers Dennis P. Zine, Janice Hahn, and Tom LaBonge. The certificate acknowledges Komen's "dedication and determination in the fight against breast cancer."
