Help Save Women's Lives!
Urge your California legislators to support the
Every Woman Counts program.

Click here to write your legislators now!

In our continuing efforts to defend against budget cuts to the Every Woman Counts Program, which would cost the lives of California women, we are asking you to urge your legislators to support increased funding for the Every Woman Counts program.  This important program helps low-income, uninsured, and under-insured women in California get access to life-saving breast cancer screening. Today, only 1 in 5 eligible women can access services at current funding levels.  When breast cancer is detected early, patients have more treatment options and a greater rate of survival.  By taking action now to ensure this program can serve the women of California, you will help save the lives of women in need. Will you help us today?

Tell the California Legislature: Every Woman Counts!

After you take action, make sure to forward this information to your friends and family and ask them to join you in supporting the Every Woman Counts program.

Thank you for your support!

California Lobby Day: February 11, 2009

Hard work, planning, and outreach pays off, as evidenced by the California Affiliates who met with more than 70 state legislative offices on February 11, 2009.  More than 20 Komen activists descended on the Capitol in Sacramento to educate and remind legislators about the impact of Komen in California and the value of the state breast cancer screening program.  Their efforts were well received by the legislators and the coordinated approach to Lobby Day also showcased the strong collaboration among Komen California Affiliates.  Attendees were able to visit the state Senate floor where they were greeted by a "Welcome Susan G. Komen for the Cure" sign in bright lights behind the dais.

Four representatives from Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate attended the Lobby Day: Catherine Mullally, Vicky Figueroa, Sharon Schlesinger, and Joanna Morales.  Komen Los Angeles County representatives attended meetings with 20 California State Senators and Assembly Members from the Los Angeles County area.

California Community Challenge: January 2008

The Komen Los Angeles County Affiliate had 20 representatives attend the Komen Community Challenge and Lobby Day in Sacramento, January 17-18, 2008.  Komen LAC volunteers and staff met with 16 State Senators and Assemblymembers from the Los Angeles County area to garner support for the three pieces of legislation proposed by Komen - AB 2035 (Ma), SB 1348 (Cedillo), and AB 2887 (Berg).
