Komen volunteers work throughout the year to sustain our organization. Year-round volunteer opportunities are available on our online volunteer registration form. Activities include being a Komen representative at various local events, helping to plan for our Annual Fashion for a Cure, working on Breast Cancer Survivor activities throughout the year, helping with Office Support, and planning or our Los Angeles County Race for the Cure®.

The Los Angeles County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Chairs and Co-Chairs for their outstanding accomplishments with the following events this spring.

Coldwater Creek try on for the Cure, Rhonda Beer & Ashida Thorne. You knew what needed to be done and you were on it. Thank you for all of your hard work. The local Coldwater Creek stores that participated in this event donated $ 1.00 to the Los Angeles County Affiliate for every person that came in & tried on their clothes on April 20.  Any purchases made that day Coldwater creek would give 10% of their sales to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Sunday September 28 will be the second time this year that Coldwater Creek will extend this opportunity to their customers & Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer, Vicky Figueroa. Thank you for all of your efforts, the Human Ribbon on the Dodgers’ field was a beautiful site. This was the third year that the Dodgers’ MLB team went to Bat Against Breast Cancer, with the players wearing Pink sweat bands and using Pink Bats. Some of the players throughout the MLB have autographed the Bats they used & they are being auctioned of at www.MLB.com  the proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

BMW Ultimate Drive, Cassandra Kirby & Dee James out did yourselves, Thank you for all of your hard work. The BMW Dealerships in the Los Angeles County that held these one day events to help raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against breast cancer are Calabasas, Glendale, North Hollywood, Norwalk & Torrance. For every mile driven in these select cars BMW will give Susan G. Komen for the Cure $1.00. It makes for a fun filled day to be able to test drive some beautiful cars and to know that you are also contributing to a great cause.
