Race for the Cure® 1

Race for the Cure

I saw a miracle on Race Day.

I saw a sea of people and none of them were strangers.  I saw faces shining with the joy of being alive under that beautiful blue sky, shining with a determination to provide that same blessing to others.

That was what Race Day was about. Providing help to the woman who is frightened because she feels a lump in her breast and has no money to find out what is wrong; providing hope to the woman in treatment who fears the outcome of her battle; providing a way for the despairing to do something, anything so that others will not have to suffer as they have.

We won a victory on Race Day; but we didn't win the war, and I must ask you to fight on. We have not reached our goal for Race 2010, and what that means is that some of our clinics will be underfunded; some of our outreach will have to be curtailed, and the research dollars we promised will be less.

Can you ask your friends and families one more time? For a little or a lot.
